Director's Office

The Director of Education manages all activities of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board with the help of other members of the school board administration as well as administrations at individual schools. The Director is guided by Thunder Bay Catholic’s Mission and Vision as well as the goals set out by its Board of Trustees. Ultimately, the Director and the other members of administration serve Thunder Bay Catholic to help ensure our students receive outstanding educational opportunities within our Christ-centred environment.

Communications & Public Relations

Today there are many forms of communication available to all of us, and it’s the Communications & Public Relations department’s responsibility to ensure these channels remain accessible, responsibly executed with the appropriate and up to date information.

Employee Services

Finance

The Finance department at the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board is responsible for managing the annual budget, purchasing, and business and corporate services. Finance also works closely with individual schools to maximize budgets and resources, guided by our goals as well as our Mission and Vision.

Health & Safety

Part of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board’s responsibility is to ensure the health and safety of students, teachers, staff, and the public in all of our schools and administrative sites. It’s a responsibility that we take quite seriously. Below are some specific initiatives as well as our general policies related to health and safety.

Information Technology

The technological landscape of our world is constantly changing and with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board's drive to utilize the latest technology, the need for a strong Information Technology team has never been greater. Not only are they responsible for the maintenance, security and privacy of our systems, they also support new pilot initiatives and operate the I.T. Help Desk.

Plant

The TBCDSB plant department's priority is to ensure quality facilities to support achievement. The Plant Department is responsible for construction, facilities and maintenance services for the Board. Through effective communication, planning and use of resources, the department ensures a clean, safe and healthy learning environment for our students, staff and communities.

Purchasing

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board believes that all purchasing be conducted ethically and consistent with Supply Chain Ontario’s Code of Ethics of the Broader Public Sector. This is to ensure that publicly funded goods and services are acquired through an open, fair, and transparent process. Our goal in every transaction is to secure quality goods and services that deliver the best value for money.

Student Achievement

At our core, the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board’s responsibility is to help students excel in their studies and reach or exceed their academic goals in a Christ-centred environment. Parents and students are equally responsible for a student’s success – learning is a partnership between teacher, student, and parents to reach academic goals. This section provides resources for students and their parents to help them achieve those goals.

Transportation

All transportation (school bus service) is provided by the Student Transportation Services of Thunder Bay (STSTB) is a collaborative venture of the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, Lakehead Public Schools, and Conseil scolaire de district catholique Aurores boreales. It was formed in 2008 to reduce transportation costs for all school boards while maintaining safe, dependable service.
